A View from the Kiosk

Here's my view from the Kiosk for Saturday the 28th

What a win!!!! I added eucalyptus oil to some water in a spray bottle and sprayed it all around the kiosk prior to my shift. I reapplied after the first hour, and no dogs peed on me!!! So glad I solved the dog pee issue. It was a gorgeous day but the park was way overcrowded. I talked to 159 people and handed out 125 maps. Free maps, that is........

“Do you know where the bridge is?”

“Which, bridge?”

“You know, the one that goes over some water”

At this point, I realized they were 100% stoned.

Okay, so this woman was kind of annoying, but I told her that I thought it was the patio near the statue of the Polish King. This is a cool little plaza because there is a group of ANCIENT folk dancers who dance there every Sunday. She didn’t think I was right and walked away. Sure enough, 10 minutes before the end of my shift, she appeared and said, not only was I right, but she had written a thank you note for me that she was going to push under the kiosk window if I had already left. Go figure.........

“Pardon me?”

“Do you know what a macaroon is?”

“Yes, but I don’t know what you are looking for”

Then she walks away.......

unfortunate interaction: “Is it now legal to smoke in the park?”

“It is now legal to smoke, pee and drink anywhere in New York City, but please don't smoke or pee around me!”

“So, I guess I am a terrible volunteer”

“Why do you say that? We like you?”

“Well, I give out maps and attitude”

“You are a New Yorker, that is our dialectic”
